I want to kick

this attorney's butt. I have the news on as they determine the fate of Mr. Westerfield, yesterday convicted of the rape and murder of a young girl, and his attorney makes me want to vomit. Blech. This reminds me of waking up at four o'clock or so and hearing: "A beloved local professor murdered in his home, and optimizing weight loss - these and the other top local stories at ." That's right, that's when you know you live in Los Angeles - when weight loss and murder bear the same weight as pressing news! This is indeed a disturbing universe. (Think Maggie Simpson in James Earl Jones' voice.)From sir_chris: http://www.playmash.com - just like when you were a kid!My future:You will live in House. You will drive a Green Smart. You will marry Faramir's actor and have 0 kids. You will be a Actor in Boston

I remember the last day I watched local news. I'm serious.Because the morning local news was part of my daily routine. But the morning that I flipped it on and listened to the latest fashion craze, and Britney's break-up, and makeup tips, and traffic . . . I was 45 minutes into the news and hadn't seen a single story of any interest to me on ANY channel.Since then I head straight for CNN Headline news in the morning. They have a nice little 5 minute block every hour when they let KCAL preview the top local stories. That's all I need, really. Then it's back to National News and stories about presidential hopefuls. *insert dueling banjos here*

I usually don't subject myself to that peculiar torture, but for some reason I couldn't bear to leave the house this morning, so riveted was I by the news (which I awakened to, since the TV was never turned off last night). It's best avoided, methinks!

I like the 'dueling banjos' bit. It adds a humorous light to an otherwise potentially gloomy situation! My sister's fiancee has set his browser to load cnn.com automatically because he finds actual news there; I find the thought novel indeed. Perhaps I should consider such a thing... when I've got a computer of my own once again. Still, I can use my roommate's however I want... so it's really not that dire a situation. (I'll hopefully find a good deal on some computer this semester, because the fact I'm writing my exams by hand really acts as a detriment to me when so many people have the same amount of time to type.)A bit of a tangent, eh? Basically, I'd like some real news once in a while. (Which isn't to say I'm not curious what Britney is wearing today... oh, wait, I'm not!)
